What is the School of Fish program?
The School of Fish is a hands-on, educational experience for kids aged 12-15, where they participate in the entire commercial fishing process. This includes boat preparation, fishing, and offloading, all while learning about the Bay Area fishery.
How long is the School of Fish program?
The program is flexible. You can book for a single day, a weekend, or multiple days, depending on your preference. We offer both short-term experiences and extended multi-day programs.
What do participants need to bring?
- Participants should bring their own lunch, appropriate clothing for the weather, and any personal fishing tackle they’d like to use. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are also recommended.
How much does it cost?
The cost of the program is $500 per day, which covers all activities, instruction, and use of the boat and fishing equipment. Each trip can accommodate one or two kids.
Is the School of Fish program safe?
Yes, safety is our top priority. Our 26-foot Regulator center console is a reliable, safe vessel equipped with twin 200hp Yamaha outboard engines. Our experienced crew will ensure that all participants are safe and well cared for throughout the experience.
What will the kids learn during the program?
Depending on the season, you can catch a variety of species such as halibut, striped bass, rockfish, and more. Our experienced crew will guide you based on the best conditions that day.
How many kids can participate at a time?
We limit the program to one or two kids per day. This small group size allows for a personalized and immersive experience, ensuring each participant gets plenty of attention and instruction.
What if the weather is bad on the day of the trip?
If the weather is unsuitable for fishing, we will work with you to reschedule the experience for a better day. Safety comes first, and we want to ensure the trip is both safe and enjoyable.
